Devcon Improvement Proposals (DIPs)
Suggest what we should include, change, or subtract and help improve Devcon.
Inspiration: DIPs are roughly inspired by the more decentralized PEP, BIP and EIP processes.
Goals: We aim to use open and value-driven Ethereum tech where it makes sense and benefits all attendees. We want to encourage collaboration between different projects.
How to submit a DIP: Write a short post on the Forum, share your idea and what you need (from us) to make it happen. We discuss and iterate from there.
What happens then? You'll make it official by posting it on GitHub, and after we accept the DIP, you can get started. Your team will receive Devcon tickets to bring your activation or integration to life.
Need inspiration? Check the DIPs we have accepted in the past below! We prioritize proposals that are open-source, open to all attendees, value- and community-driven. Approval of proposals ultimately lies with the Devcon team.

A lot of people will travel to Devcon SEA. This will impose a number of risks to these people: flight Delays, baggage loss, theft, and others. We will build a decentralized travel insurance for Devcon SEA participants.

We’re really excited to propose the “DAO Confession Booth,” is a sacred space crafted for weary souls of DAO operators. Participants are invited to share their raw DAO experiences in an anon friendly way. The DAO Confession Booth acts as a sensemaker by taking the individual stories, anonymizing and analyzing into a dataset, and outputting collective themes and challenges (live!). The booth is standalone, doesn’t require oversight, but is a fun experience for Devcon attendees to participate in, all while contributing to research. The DAO Confession Booth was originally activated at MCON III. We would love to bring it to Devcon to add more stories!

We propose to issue Devcon 7 tickets as PODs, enabling attendees to plug into a network of applications and cryptographic gadgets. If tickets are issued as provable object data, Devcon community members can generate ZKPs about their activity that are portable across other platforms—event host websites, Devcon-native applications, and more.

We are proposing the development of an innovative app that combines the interactive questions & answers capabilities of Slido with the privacy preservation of Zupass. This tool, Meerkat, is designed to enhance audience engagement at events while upholding the standard of user privacy.

This proposal introduces an Anon Aadhaar integration for Devcon in Bangkok, enabling Indian citizens to prove their nationality using zero-knowledge proofs and access ticket discounts in a privacy-preserving way. This improves the user experience and eliminates the need to share sensitive identity documents.

The "escape room / treasure hunt" format is both a good teaching tool for fundamentals of crypto(graphy), and an exciting conference activity for curious minds of all experience levels. Although technically finite, treasure hunts, escape rooms, and other LARP-y activities are infinite games in spirit, which makes them an appropriate tradition for Ethereum events of all shapes and sizes, including and especially devcon(nect). As a curated narrative experiences, there is a very steep coordination penalty for writing, implementation, and execution of an escape game. At devcon{4,5,6}, the games were designed and executed by a handful of committed game masters working as a single team for the event. This is natural, and in some ways necessary to execute high-quality games within event spacetime. Still, if escape games continue as at devcon(nect), it"s worth interrogating what mechanisms exist that could reduce the frictions of coordination, and allow for more collaborative world-building at bigger scale. Daedalus Industries would like to design and execute a devcon7 escape game, and to experiment with a general framework for "infinite finite gaming" that would allow for some open participation without world-breaking narrative chaos.

Hosting the Devcon website with the Agenda of DevCon on Swarm/FairData Society. This would make Devcon’ website decentralized, censorship resistant and privacy preserving, and would make Devcon’s digital efforts aligned with its values, and help attendees have an amazing experience__

An interactive game using ZK to prove points while protecting privacy. Attendees collect unique signatures from physical NFC cards, which represent attending events or meeting people, and are visualized as different "Jubjub" monsters. Attendees use ZK to reveal the number & rarity of the Jubjubs they"ve collected, but nothing else.

We propose to issue Devconnect co-working space tickets as PCDs, which would enable attendees to plug into a a structured network of ZKP-friendly data. If tickets are issued as proof-carrying data, Devconnect builders and community members will be generate cryptographic proofs about their activity at Devconnect that can be ported across other community platforms—event host websites, Telegram channels, and more.

As proposed in DIP-17 (Accepted) the "Climate Friendly Devcon VI" Dapp allows Devcon VI attendees to optionally compensate the carbon emissions associated with the event and their air travel to the event on-chain. Attendees who compensated (at least) their event emissions may mint a POAP as proof of participation. This DIP proposes that holders of this POAP receive priority treatment in the queue for vegetarian lunch on the last day of Devcon VI.

We set up [Planetscape][planetscape], a dystopian escape game for [36C3][36c3] based on the dreadful effects of climate change (CCC did not sponsor the game). Planetscape is organized in 20 chapters, and requires players to solve quests in real life, explore the congress to find hints and interact with people. Planetscape had 20 levels, 254 players, [1300 transactions][ps:transactions] to the smart contract, and 7 teams finished the game and claimed their prize. The players" feedback was heartwarming: "We were about to leave the congress but we found Planetscape, and we stayed longer to play!", "Please make another escape game for the next congress!", "This was the best thing of the congress", "Highlight of this year" ([tweet][ps:highlight]). During the game, players:
